It is one of the species whose rate of food conversion and

profitability or lack of it in its breeding. It has always been taken for granted that birds do not have taste
buds and can only distinguish colors or feel predilection for some of
them. However, some studies performed recently have shown that they
are able to detect some flavors and in some cases, by introducing
certain aromatic notes to their diets, could even favor the rates of
conversion.
